About The Position

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Construction Estimator to support commercial drywall pre-construction, takeoff, and bid development across the North Texas market. This role is ideal for candidates looking to build a long-term career in commercial estimating and pre-construction, working alongside senior estimators and operations leadership. You will assist in preparing accurate quantity takeoffs, pricing analysis, and proposal documentation while gaining exposure to client-facing discussions and bid strategy in the Dallas–Fort Worth market.

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of construction estimating, drywall, or related commercial construction experience
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and addenda
  • Strong quantity takeoff discipline and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (estimating worksheets and cost breakdowns)
  • Familiarity with estimating tools such as: On-Screen Takeoff (OST) Quick Bid Bluebeam Revu BuzzBid (or similar bid management software)
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Professional communication skills and willingness to grow into client-facing responsibilities

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to Acoustical Ceiling Tile (ACT) or specialty ceiling systems
  • Experience supporting negotiated work, conceptual budgeting, or design-assist projects
  • Familiarity with North Texas commercial project types including office, healthcare, education, hospitality, and mixed-use

Responsibilities

  • Assist with detailed drywall quantity takeoffs from plans and specifications, including: Metal framing systems Insulation Gypsum board assemblies Related accessories and specialty components
  • Support preparation of comprehensive estimates reflecting: Labor productivity assumptions Material pricing analysis Equipment considerations Project-specific scope conditions
  • Help identify scope gaps, conflicts, and constructability risks.
  • Assist in preparing RFIs and clarifications to protect margin.
  • Solicit and organize vendor and supplier pricing.
  • Maintain organized bid files and documentation.
  • Assist in preparing competitive bids including: Inclusions & exclusions Alternates & unit pricing Preliminary scope letters
  • Participate in internal bid review meetings to ensure completeness and risk coverage.
  • Support value engineering efforts and pricing adjustments under supervision.
  • Attend occasional client scope review meetings with senior estimators.
  • Coordinate closely with project management and operations teams during bid handoff.
  • Assist with tracking bid outcomes and maintaining updated cost databases.
