About The Position

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Junior Civil Engineer- Energy to join our Power & Energy team at our client's office located in Binghamton, NY. The following locations will be considered: Rochester, NY, Denver, CO, Salt Lake City, UT, Kansas City, MO, Orlando, FL, Boston, MA, New York, NY, and Augusta, ME. The candidate will be involved in projects with our Power & Energy Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client's objectives and solves their challenges.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, or closely related discipline.
  • 1+ years of relevant post education experience.
  • Experience working in consulting firms.
  • Proficient with various engineering design tools and software.
  • Effective self-leadership with attention to detail, results orientation, and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Efficient communications and ability to work with team members not located in the same office through MS Teams, email, and/or telephone calls.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Engineer in Training Certification.
  • Master's Degree in Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Work under mentorship and guidance of the Supervising Engineer.
  • Grading and drainage design and review.
  • Foundations design and review.
  • Driveway and drive area design and review.
  • Overall site plan and truck/trailer access, specific review of mobile access plans.
  • Civil engineering lead and advisor for all projects and the capital program.
  • Maintaining good working relationships with internal groups that support projects.
  • Maintaining good working relationships with material suppliers, contractors, and any others that affect the quality, schedule and cost of projects.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
