About The Position

Leidos is looking for a Secret cleared Junior CBRN Field Technician. This position involves working in both laboratory and field settings. The candidate must be comfortable working in chemical fume hoods and biological safety cabinets for several hours daily and wearing PPE as required. Daily travel to field sites will be necessary. Flexibility in work hours and work tasks is essential to meet operational demands.

Requirements

  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have an active Secret security clearance (Top Secret preferred).
  • Emergency services OR environmental sampling experience, training, and/or education.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule outside of the normal 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. hours when workload dictates.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain qualification to wear a full-face air-purifying respirator and Class III/Level “C” protective ensemble.
  • Ability to routinely lift 40 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Past military experience with a background in Chemical, Biological, and Radiological monitoring or civilian emergency response.
  • HAZWOPER training and/or certification.
  • Related STEM degree (e.g. Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, etc) and/or demonstrated ability to analyze and evaluate products, processes, and related performance.
  • Experience recording and sometimes interpreting results to present to senior colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Environmental Sampling: Collect various types of environmental samples in accordance with established protocols and procedures.
  • Laboratory Analysis: Prepare and process PCR plates, analyze unknown substances for potential threats, and perform laboratory work in chemical fume hoods and biological safety cabinets for extended periods.
  • Radiation Detection: Operate and maintain various radiation detection technologies and equipment to ensure accurate and reliable measurements.
  • Decontamination and Sampling: Periodically respond in appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to perform decontamination and sampling activities in potentially hazardous environments.
  • Sample Tracking and Documentation: Utilize sample tracking software (e.g., EQuIS) to maintain accurate records, generate and maintain chain of custody documentation, and ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.
  • Equipment and Supplies Management: Track, maintain, and exchange sampling media and laboratory equipment. Order supplies and laboratory materials as needed to support operations.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Effectively communicate with customer personnel, external agencies, contractors, and other internal teams to ensure seamless coordination and execution of tasks.
