About The Position

The Junior Camp Counselor will assist with and participate in all activities including field trips, daily activities, overnights, meals, and skits. Junior counselors will lead activities, assist in cleanliness, and aid all other staff where and when needed at the direction of their supervisor. While doing so, junior counselors are expected to serve as an appropriate role model for the campers. Requirements

• Must be 16 years of age or older
• Desire and ability to work with children
• Ability to relate with one’s peer group
• Ability to accept supervision and guidance
• Ability to assist in teaching activities
• Completion of any required training
• Good integrity, character, attitude and adaptability
• CPR/First Aid Certification (provided if not already complete)
• Must be able to work the entire summer and disclose during the interview process if a vacation has been planned, or expected scheduling needs

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with Camp Leif Ericson as a Camper is highly desired

Responsibilities

• Participate in team training and meetings
• Follow all camp procedures as outlined in the Camp Staff Handbook
• Guide campers and groups in participating in all camp activities
• Teach or lead activities as assigned
• Set a good example for campers and others including cleanliness, punctuality, sharing clean-up responsibilities, and good sportsmanship
• Other duties may be assigned
