The City of Union City is looking for Junior Camp Counselors to assist in our third annual Summer Camp! The Jr. Camp Counselor will provide support to campers ages 5 – 12 and guide them through a fun, safe, and healthy camp experience. This position will assist and lead activities that include but are not limited to, supervising campers on field trips, athletic, fitness, arts and crafts, leisure games, educational games, storytelling, music, drama, and dance. Our summer season begins with staff training on May 30th and camp ending on July 25th. GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To support the vision, mission and guiding principles of the City. While performing any procedure, all associates and contract personnel must observe applicable Safety, Health, and Environmental rules and guidelines. The use of appropriate personal protective equipment is required. Attend and participate in training opportunities and seminars relevant to this position. Adhere to appropriate City operating procedures, benefit rules, employment, and safety policies/practices. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Greet parents and campers upon arrival each day Provide continuous supervision and support to campers throughout daily activities Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere that encourages social interaction and personal growth Ensure the safety and well-being of campers at all times Collaborate with other staff members to create a cohesive and supportive team environment Be familiar with and adhere to camp safety policies and emergency procedures Assist in cleanup and organization of utilized sports and recreation equipment Other assigned duties JOB SCOPE Job has repetitive work situations with only modest changes in routine. The need for accuracy and effective utilization of accepted programs and procedures is high. Errors in judgment and execution will waste time and resources adversely impacting unit performance. Incumbent operates in accord with clearly defined instructions and routines with work priorities determined by supervision. COMMUNICATIONS/CUSTOMER CONTACT Contacts are across the entire City community and in a leadership capacity. Community contact is a critical component of success in developing good will and support of City programs and initiatives.
