About The Position

The Junior Cabling Technician supports the installation, testing, and maintenance of structured cabling systems for voice, data, and video networks. This entry-level position works under the guidance of senior technicians and project supervisors, assisting with daily field work while learning industry standards and best practices. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Basic understanding of structured cabling concepts (or willingness to learn)
  • Ability to use basic hand and power tools
  • Ability to work on ladders, lifts, and in confined spaces
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Reliable transportation and punctuality
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

Nice To Haves

  • Entry-level cabling or low-voltage experience
  • Knowledge of industry standards (TIA/EIA, BICSI)
  • Basic experience with cable testing equipment
  • OSHA 10 or similar safety training

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the installation of copper and fiber optic cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, coax, fiber)
  • Pull, route, and secure cables through walls, ceilings, conduits, and floor systems
  • Terminate cables at patch panels, jacks, racks, and network equipment
  • Label cables and maintain accurate as-built documentation
  • Perform basic cable testing and troubleshooting using test equipment
  • Assist with equipment mounting (racks, cable trays, ladder racks)
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with safety standards
  • Follow blueprints, schematics, and verbal instructions
  • Travel to job sites and assist with site preparation and cleanup
  • Support senior technicians with maintenance and troubleshooting tasks
