About The Position

The Fresh Category -junior buyer position is responsible for procurement planning and managing products in the fresh category, which includes natural and organic meats, dairy, deli, prepared foods and more. This position is focused on working with other fresh buyers which allows the associate to learn the day-to-day responsibilities and tasks of the buyer as well as problem solving and supplier communication.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 1 year of buying or buying support experience, preferably in natural/organic fresh foods.
• Proficient analytical skills, business math and understanding how procurement affects gross margin.
• Adequate computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office.
• Proficient interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize and make sound decisions.

Nice To Haves

• College degree is a plus.
• Fresh food retail or wholesale distribution is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Actively participate in training and learning opportunities to develop effective knowledge of procurement through on-the-job assignments and self-development.
• Complete tasks related to forecasting, inventory management and supplier communication.
• Provide weekly key category performance metric reporting.
• Work with buyers, warehouse operations and suppliers to solve inbound arrival problems.
• Internal and external communication of market conditions, supplier and inventory issues.
• Execute buying duties for settlements, protection requests and rejections.
• Negotiate FOB or delivered pricing with suppliers, promotional cycles and supplier support.
• Process promotional and turnover documents to ensure visibility to fresh the buyers and buyer support team.
• Process and track samples.
• Participate in supplier meetings.
• Build and maintain supplier relationships.
• Buyer PTO coverage.
• Meets deadlines and completes projects as assigned.
• Represent Four Seasons Produce, Inc. and the Four Seasons Family of Companies in a positive and professional manner.
