About The Position

The Junior Back-end Developer at Hyper Solutions supports the development and maintenance of backend services for Hyper’s software platforms and internal systems. This role focuses on API development, database operations, testing, and production support while working under the mentorship of senior engineers. The ideal candidate has strong programming fundamentals and a desire to grow their skills in modern backend development using Node.js, TypeScript, and microservices architecture. This role offers hands-on experience building scalable applications used by internal teams and customers across Hyper’s technology platforms. Core Responsibilities Build and maintain REST and RPC backend endpoints using Node.js, TypeScript, and NestJS. Implement DTO validation, structured error handling, and clean service-layer logic. Work with PostgreSQL and TypeORM for database queries, schema updates, and data integrity. Write and maintain unit and integration tests to ensure system reliability. Debug and resolve issues across development, staging, and production environments. Collaborate with frontend developers, QA engineers, and DevOps teams during feature delivery. Additional Responsibilities Participate in code reviews and technical discussions with senior engineers. Follow coding standards, linting requirements, and documentation practices. Support ongoing improvements to backend performance and maintainability. Assist with troubleshooting production issues and documenting debugging steps. What Success Looks Like (First 3 Months) Delivers small-to-medium backend endpoints with supervision Writes reliable tests for new features and services Participates actively in code reviews and technical discussions Troubleshoots bugs with clear debugging notes Improves code quality and documentation within assigned areas

Requirements

  • 0–2 years of backend development experience (internships or projects acceptable).
  • Strong fundamentals in JavaScript and TypeScript.
  • Basic knowledge of Node.js, HTTP, and REST APIs.
  • Understanding of SQL database concepts, including joins, indexing, constraints, and transactions.
  • Familiarity with Git workflows, including pull requests, branching, and code reviews.

Nice To Haves

  • Direct experience with NestJS.
  • Experience with TypeORM or similar ORM frameworks.
  • Exposure to Redis or caching strategies.
  • Familiarity with message queues or microservices architectures.
  • Experience with testing frameworks such as Vitest or Jest.
  • Familiarity with Swagger or OpenAPI documentation tools.
  • Interest in writing clean, maintainable, and self-documenting code.
  • Strong communication skills and willingness to ask questions.
