About The Position

The Junior Audio Visual (AV) Engineer plays an essential role in supporting the planning, design, install, and management for presentation and production systems in learning spaces, meeting rooms, and University presentation/event venues. The Junior AV Engineer provides design, installation, and configuration services, and offers technical guidance for the management of audio visual presentation and production systems across all campuses. As part of the AV Engineering team, the Junior AV Engineer also supports AV design services for construction and renovation projects overseen by Administrative Services personnel.

Requirements

  • Required Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Communications, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience managing audiovisual technology.
  • Strong understanding of AV systems, integration practices, and classroom/event technology environments.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to climb/descend stairs and ladders while carrying bulky AV equipment up to 50lbs.
  • Must be able to stand, sit, lift, and climb ladders to work with equipment mounted on walls and ceilings.
  • Ability to travel between Hawk Hill, University City and Lancaster
  • Occasional night/weekend work depending on the season. Examples include: commencement support, open houses, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in higher education, corporate AV environments, or large-scale facilities management.
  • CTS, or CTS-D certification.

Responsibilities

  • Work alongside the AV engineering and classroom support staff to help with end-to-end management of AV projects, including scoping, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Collaborate with Facilities, vendors, and University stakeholders to review technical designs, drawings, and equipment specifications.
  • Serve as Tier 2 escalated support of the classroom and event environment.
  • Ensure all installations meet University AV standards and integrate effectively with existing infrastructure by coordinating with Network Engineering and Systems Engineering teams during implementation.
  • Maintains presentation and production systems in large University venues.
  • Assists users and the Technology and Event Services team with the technical operation of presentation systems, production systems, and post-production systems.
  • Assists as needed with AV broadcast productions at large University venues, including the video capture and streaming of live events, and AV support for special events.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, as-built drawings, and equipment inventories.
  • Consults with members of the University Community on planning AV services in learning and event spaces.
  • Operates AV equipment in the absence of a video production tech.
  • Responds when needed to emergency trouble calls in technology classrooms and public spaces.
