Summary DLA Piper is seeking a junior-level associate to join our Litigation group, Business and Commercial subgroup. This position is open to our Miami office.

  • JD years 2022 to 2024 with strong litigation experience across a variety of practices.
  • Completion of a federal or state supreme court judicial clerkship is required.
  • Effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, with clients, lawyers, business professionals, and third parties;
  • Produce deliverables, answer phone calls, and reply to correspondence in an efficient and responsive manner;
  • Provide timely, accurate, and quality work product;
  • Successfully meet deadlines, expectations, and perform work duties as required;
  • Foster positive work relationships;
  • Comply with all firm policies and practices;
  • Engage in both physical and sedentary activity, such as (a) working at a computer for extended periods of time, including on-screen reading and typing; (b) participating in digital/virtual conference calls; (c) participating in meetings as needed;
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage competing demands in a fast-paced environment;
  • Perform all other duties, tasks or projects as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Responsibilities as an Associate will vary based on specific practice group.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to support case preparation and strategy.
  • Draft legal documents, including briefs, motions, and contracts.
  • Assist in the preparation of court filings and other legal documentation.
  • Participate in client meetings, providing support and taking detailed notes.
  • Attend court hearings, depositions, and trials to observe and assist senior attorneys.
  • Review and organize case files and evidence.
  • Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and other parties as needed.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all client and firm matters.
  • Engage in pro bono work by providing legal assistance to underserved and underrepresented communities ensuring access to justice for all individuals.
