About The Position

At Quartermaster AI, we leverage cutting-edge AI and robotics technology to enhance maritime domain awareness. Our mission is to become the eyes, ears, and brain of the ocean by enabling every vessel to collaboratively sense, compute, and communicate. Quartermaster AI is seeking a Junior-level Analyst with experience in report/analytic production, support to customer engagement, and support to operations, with heavy emphasis on maritime domain awareness and ship identification. The ideal candidate will have private and/or public sector experience conducting maritime analysis, writing reports based on “raw” information, understanding how to convey information to customers that matters most to them, and targeting new resources for further growth. The candidate will possess strong writing and analytic/assessment capabilities, with maritime domain analytic experience a strongly desirable characteristic of the ideal candidate. Strength and experience collaborating with engineers, field operations, data scientists, and government agencies are also strongly desired. Full time remote work with occasional in office or client site required

Requirements

  • Ability to work in ambiguous situations and maintain flexibility given the company’s status as a startup.
  • Ability and willingness to use new technologies, tools, and software to accomplish the highest level of targeting, analysis, and information presentation.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with contractors and stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Intelligence Analysis, International Relations, Maritime Studies, or related fields.
  • Experience in maritime-related research and analysis, with a strong understanding of written products for customers and internal departments, with particular attention to a BLUF writing style.
  • Experience with HUMINT cycle, as well as Targeting and OSINT tools, smart technologies and solutions, particularly in analyzing and supporting deployed systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment with people across the globe in various timezones.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively create geographic area-specific reports detailing recent events, detections, noteworthy artifacts, etc. based on SmartMast data.
  • Provide an assessment on whether/how these events relate to recent customer topics of interest in that AOR; tailor assessments to customer interest areas as appropriate.
  • In response to maritime events, research and analyze AOR-specific events and provide reports on SmartMast data in furtherance of current or future customer engagement.
  • Assist with the Growth team’s engagement with new clients by arming the team with products/deliverables that are relevant to customer interest areas.
  • Craft and contribute to long and short form products that will demonstrate SmartMast effectiveness in order to bring on new clients and/or support current client contract growth.
  • In support of Field Operations, provide research and analysis to identify new fleets or vessels that may be candidates to host SmartMast capabilities.
  • Research these vessels’ patterns of life, identify vessels/captains that frequent the AORs in which we have interest, and effectively communicate these results to the field operations team.
