About The Position

The Neil Jones Food Company is an industry leader, processing superior quality fresh-packed, vine-ripened California tomatoes and Pacific Northwest fruit. Headquartered in Vancouver, Washington, NJFC has been providing our nation’s discerning foodservice, retail, industrial and institutional customers with the finest quality canned and pouched products for over 50 years. NJFC operates three production facilities: Northwest Packing in Vancouver, WA.; San Benito Foods, in Hollister, CA; and Toma-Tek in Firebaugh, CA. We are looking for a Juice Department Manager to be responsible for managing juice department production operations, including juice concentrate processing and remanufacturing. Manages and optimizes production functions to meet operating goals and production schedules while ensuring correct product specifications and compliance with all standards, policies, and regulations for the safe and optimum production of quality products. This leader ensures effective execution during the processing season and in remanufacturing. Ensures GMP implementation and execution and manages departmental safety and HACCP compliance. Supports demand planning for fruit and packaging materials to maintain production readiness and continuity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in food manufacturing, quality systems, engineering, or related field preferred.
  • 5 years of demonstrated food manufacturing supervisory experience in roles of increasing responsibility; juice/concentrate experience preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of juice processing systems and equipment, optimizing throughput, yield, and quality while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards through strong analytical, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement skills.
  • Leadership in production operations and planning, managing demand for fruit and packaging, labor and budgets, and cross-functional teams while effectively handling multiple priorities and driving operational efficiency.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, background check including employment and educational verification, and credit screen, and to work extended schedule and weekends during the fresh pack season, typically July to early November.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the manufacture of all juice and concentrate products in accordance with customer specifications, food safety standards, and HACCP requirements.
  • Oversees processing season execution and remanufacturing operations to meet production schedules, quality requirements, and operating targets.
  • Supports demand planning for fruit and packaging materials; coordinates with Procurement, Warehouse, and Scheduling to ensure availability, proper inventory levels, and production readiness.
  • Responsible for department crewing and labor cost; ensures scheduling is completed under budgetary guidelines.
  • Overseas day-to-day operation of production functions including daily production, coordination with support functions, and execution of systems and processes to meet throughput, yield/recovery, quality, and delivery expectations.
