About The Position

The Department of Adult Correction, Division of Community Supervision is seeking a Judicial Services Coordinator (JSC) to work with members and officials of the judicial system, community agencies, victims, and offenders in the Granville County area. The Judicial Services Coordinator will serve as the agency's representative in court, the community, and in maintaining public awareness of the community service program. The mission of Community Supervision is to protect the safety of citizens in communities throughout the state by providing viable alternatives and meaningful supervision to offenders on probation, parole, or post-release supervision. The primary goal of Community Supervision is to reach an equal balance of control and treatment for offenders that will positively affect their behavior and lifestyle patterns. This position is usually located in or near the courthouse. This position is frequently in court and will associate with judges, lawyers, District Attorneys, Clerk of Court, law enforcement, etc. This position is responsible for the intake of all new supervised and unsupervised probation cases and, in specified areas, monitoring unsupervised deferred prosecution cases.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in communicating effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Work or school experience requiring effective time management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated experience working as a member of a team
  • Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, human services, psychology, or related field of study from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Associate degree in criminal justice, human services, psychology, or related field of study from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in the court system, paralegal work, or other directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of experience in the court system, paralegal work, or other directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of the Community Service Work Program
  • Knowledge of local and community resources to address the placement of offenders in the community
  • Court-related work experience
  • Experience with OPUS, CSAS, ICOTS, FMS, AOC

Responsibilities

  • Interviewing offenders, assigning them for supervision and providing them with reporting instructions
  • Data entry
  • Determining if the offender requires interpreter services or accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act
  • Processing intrastate and interstate transfer cases out of court
  • Monitoring for compliance offenders sentenced to community service
  • Monitoring a low-risk-low needs offender caseload
  • Performing a variety of administrative tasks, including document preparation and tracking case status
  • Providing technical support to staff
  • Acceptance, examination and processing of legal documents
  • Providing pre-sentence, pre-parole, post release investigations, or other special projects as assigned
