The Denver County Court (DCC) is seeking a Judicial Associate I in the General Sessions/Criminal Division. This position will work on-site in Courtroom 3A in the Lindsey Flanigan Courthouse located at 520 W Colfax Ave, Denver, CO 80204, Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The mission of Denver County Court is to administer justice fairly, efficiently and effectively; provide excellent customer service, and foster a positive environment where employees enjoy their work. The City and County of Denver’s third branch of government is comprised of a diverse and esteemed bench comprised of 19 judges, 4 full-time magistrates, and 300 staff members. Case types include state, civil, small claims, traffic, criminal, and other general sessions cases within the City and County of Denver. The General Sessions and Criminal Division is a fast-paced environment serving many customers with complex legal matters. As a Judicial Associate I you can expect to: Be a valued member of a small, but dynamic team consisting of a judicial officer and two judicial associates, where mutual trust, collaboration, and resilience is critical to the team’s success Provide excellent and unbiased service to all customers of the Court in a high-volume division, where 50 to 80 cases are heard daily Work both independently and collaboratively with stakeholders in a fast-paced, high-volume courtroom Support procedural fairness Maintain detailed and confidential records, manage all courtroom activities and functions, and act as liaison between defendants, attorneys, court personnel, other stakeholders, and the judicial officer Represent your judicial officer and the court in a positive and professional manner as the face of your courtroom Rotate to different courtrooms throughout the court depending on your Judge’s annual courtroom assignment. If your assigned Judge changes courtrooms, your position will follow their new rotation Enter judicial orders and findings in the case record in real time during Court, keeping pace with the proceedings as each case is called Become a process and operations expert and find proactive solutions

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.
  • Two (2) years of experience in a court, law enforcement or legal setting.
  • Must be able to pass an initial pre-security clearance screening and maintain CBI (Colorado Bureau of Investigation) certification as a condition of employment. Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Exceptional record keeping skills – exhibiting an average typing speed of at least 45 words per minute
