About The Position

JROTC Army Instructor (United States Army Officer) Seeks an exceptional, highly qualified JROTC senior instructor to join the school and community to work in an environment that promises to provide opportunities for all to discover the greatest versions of themselves by acquiring knowledge, wisdom, and skills to explore, formulate, realize, and reflect. PRIMARY FUNCTION: This position is responsible for providing appropriate learning experiences and educational opportunities for each student assigned to the JROTC program at the school. The senior instructor has the materials, supplies, and equipment for each lesson ready at the start of lesson or instructional activity and maintains a high level of student time-on-task.

Requirements

  • Education Level: High School Diploma. Must obtain a Bachelor's degree within five years of employment from an accredited institution.
  • Obtain JROTC Certification from US Army Cadet Command.
  • Army officer separated/retired within the past five years with a minimum of 10 years cumulative honorable service in the grades of O3 through O6, or an actively serving ARNG or USAR O3 through O6 with a minimum of 10 years of service.
  • Senior instructor must have a physical and medical fitness level that permits them to participate fully in JROTC activities.

Responsibilities

  • Performs regular teaching tasks in a multi-subject JROTC curriculum as required by state and district requirements, including: Provides Instruction; Assesses and Encourages Student Progress; and Manages the Learning
  • Follows the General Duties and Responsibilities for teachers in the state of Massachusetts
  • Writes/updates lesson plans for multi-subjects.
  • Ensures proper property accountability, maintenance and physical security of all government furnished equipment/materials
  • Assists with planning and carrying out extra-curricular activities for JROTC Unit (including color/honor guard ceremonies, drill team and rifle team competitive meets, field trips, and summer camp)
  • Assists in the preparation of monthly, semi-annual, annual, and periodic reports on program administration
  • Assesses JROTC program to assure program objectives are met
  • Attends Cadet Command ROTC-sponsored seminars to keep abreast of new requirements of program management.
  • Makes annual presentations on JROTC Program to students/faculty and administration within the school district
  • Takes courses of instruction to improve teaching
  • Counsels students in the JROTC
  • Maintains contact with civic groups to obtain their recognition of the JROTC.
  • Performs other duties as necessary for the effectiveness of the organization and the safety of students.
