About The Position

The JROTC Instructor at Fort Worth Independent School District is a senior military service instructor responsible for leading and managing the high school JROTC program. This role involves implementing the national education curriculum, promoting academic achievement, and overseeing various extracurricular activities. The instructor will also supervise other instructors, manage budgets, and ensure effective communication with students and parents.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Army Federal JROTC instructor certification; fully qualified with completion of secondary education teaching certification.
  • Clear and valid Texas Driver's License; insurable by the District's insurance carrier.
  • Retired Army Warrant/Commissioned Officer with a minimum of 20 years military service; not retired from military service longer than 3 years.
  • Troop level experience (company level, Battalion, Brigade); Executive Staff experience.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and automation technology skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and implement the overall high school JROTC program according to national, state, and District standards.
  • Teach, assess, evaluate, and document student progress and growth through formal and informal evaluation procedures.
  • Implement and coordinate the national curriculum, lesson plans, and extracurricular activities.
  • Develop thematic units and projects to enhance student interaction and creativity.
  • Supervise property management, fund-raising, and budget controls for the unit.
  • Administer the automated cadet record system and reporting for military and District information.
  • Counsel, mentor, and tutor cadets as needed.
  • Coordinate and supervise special activities or events such as military balls and drill meets.
  • Encourage parental involvement in students' education and ensure effective communication with students and parents.
