About The Position

Moebius Solutions, Inc. specializes in advanced software, middleware, and integration platforms for the U.S. Department of Defense and Commercial clients. We are looking for full-time Junior Software Engineers to join our team of 100+ employees in San Diego, CA. In our collaborative, solution-based environment, you will build creative web services, applications, and databases alongside software experts. Our small-scale structure provides the flexibility and support needed to strengthen your skills while gaining dynamic hands-on experience with new technologies. Moebius Solutions is seeking strong candidates who are interested in solving real-world software development problems. Our Software Engineers are involved in all aspects of the development lifecycle - planning, development, testing, installation, and supporting live systems – you could be too. We are seeking a candidate with 0- 2 years of professional experience in Python development. In this role, you will join a team working on a large Python-based microservices architecture. This individual must have a strong background in Python. Familiarity with Linux command line and a willingness to learn Linux concepts, such as Unix domain sockets and file descriptor inheritance, are beneficial. Qualified applicants will be emailed a Python technical assessment designed by Moebius to complete and submit for interview consideration.

Requirements

  • Strong proficiency in Python (version 3.x)
  • Experience with Python web frameworks such as Django, Flask, or FastAPI
  • Familiarity with RESTful API development using Python
  • Knowledge of Python testing frameworks (e.g., pytest, unittest)
  • Experience with Python package management (pip, virtual environments)
  • Basic understanding of containerization using Docker
  • Familiarity with version control systems, preferably Git
  • Knowledge of SQL and experience with databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL)
  • Basic understanding of Linux environments
  • U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a Secret-level security clearance are required.
  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, software development, engineering, information technology, or a related technical discipline is required.
  • A minimum of 0 – 2 years of professional experience in software engineering, development, deployment, or sustainment of software-intensive systems and technologies is required.
  • A minimum of 0 – 2 years of professional experience with Python 3.x, Django or Flask for web development, FastAPI for APIs, PostgreSQL or MySQL for database management, Docker, Git, Java, JBoss, Quarkus, SELinux, Linux, KeyCloak, Python testing frameworks (such as Pytest or unittest), and front-end unit testing tools (such as Jest or ViTest), or equivalent technologies are preferred.
  • Security+ and Linux+ certifications must be obtained and maintained.
  • Successfully complete a Moebius-designed Python assessment and participate in two virtual technical interviews.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with authentication systems like OAuth2 or JWT, and experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) would be a plus.
  • While the primary focus is on Python development, basic knowledge of Java and a willingness to work with legacy Java systems (JAX-RS, Servlet services, JBoss) when necessary would be beneficial.
  • Familiarity with JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and Microsoft PowerApps is a plus.

Responsibilities
