About The Position

Custom Glass Solutions is seeking a talented individual to join our team! The Jr. Quality Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that all glass products, processes, and systems meet required quality standards, comply with industry regulations, and align with customer expectations. This person will report to the Quality Engineering Supervisor. This position will be responsible for ensuring that all glass products meet company and customer quality standards by developing and implementing quality control systems, performing inspections, analyzing production processes, and working cross-functionally to resolve quality issues. The selected candidate will interface with all departments at our Upper Sandusky, OH location. Below is a detailed breakdown of the key responsibilities and functions:

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Quality Management, or a related field.
  • 2–5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment; experience with glass fabrication or processing is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001).
  • Familiarity with measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, glass thickness gauges) and testing equipment used in glass production.
  • Proficient in statistical analysis and quality tools (SPC, DOE, Pareto analysis).
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with quality software (e.g., Minitab, QMS platforms) is a plus.

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of tempering, lamination, or insulating glass unit (IGU) manufacturing processes is a strong plus but not required.
  • Relevant experience in lieu of a degree may be considered.
  • Experience with quality software (e.g., Minitab, QMS platforms) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Act as Customer Contact / Liaison with 24/7 availability
  • Manufacturing Process Improvement Support
  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality control systems and procedures tailored to glass fabrication processes (e.g., tempering, and laminating).
  • Conduct in-process inspections, final product audits, and incoming material evaluations (glass sheets, interlayers, spacers, etc.).
  • Monitor and analyze production data and trends to identify quality issues or process inefficiencies.
  • Investigate root causes of product defects and non-conformances using a variety of Problem-Solving tools.
  • Work with production, engineering, and maintenance teams to implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Review and update quality documentation, including inspection instructions, SOPs, work instructions, and control plans.
  • Support internal and external audits (ISO 9001 or industry-specific certifications).
  • Collaborate with customer service and sales teams to address and resolve customer complaints and returns.
  • Assist with training production employees in quality standards and best practices.
  • Continuously drive improvement in product quality, yield, and customer satisfaction.
