About The Position

For our future state-of-the art 600+ person Lubbock, TX cheese and whey manufacturing facility, Leprino is seeking a Jr. Power and Utilities Tech   Leprino Foods broke ground on the $1 Billion facility in the summer of 2022. The plant becomes operational in 2024 with Phase 1 and will become fully operational by 2026 with Phase 2.   The Power & Utilities (P&U) Junior Technician is responsible for learning and applying the skills, knowledge, and ability to perform a P&U technician position within 18 months of employment.  This includes installing, disassembling, repairing, and maintaining equipment.  The P&U Jr. Technician is also responsible for learning and performing the safe repair and troubleshooting of malfunctioning mechanical, electrical or instrumentation systems, the calibration of instruments, maintaining 5S standards in work areas and tool boxes, and performing mechanical, preventive and predictive maintenance. This position participates on the hazmat response team.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Ability to speak, read and write the English language in order to understand/adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), to communicate effectively with others to complete required documentation both in written and electronic form, and to troubleshoot systems utilizing the English language
  • Prior experience in demonstrating knowledge, skills, and abilities in one or more of the following:   electrical, mechanical, pneumatics, electrical controls, and schematic reading
  • Computer proficiency in email, internet, and basic Microsoft Office software

Nice To Haves

  • One year of experience in a manufacturing maintenance type role
  • Stainless steel welding and fabrication experience
  • Basic knowledge of utility equipment and operations (e.g. boiler and refrigeration equipment)
  • Dairy/food manufacturing experience
  • Knowledge of government and industrial regulations (e.g. PSM, OSHA, and USDA)
  • Experience using a computerized maintenance management system (e.g. SAP, Maximo)
  • Familiarity with AC frequency drives, instrumentation, welding, mechanical repairs (including rebuilding of gearboxes and process equipment) experience
  • PLC trouble shooting experience

Responsibilities

  • Calibrating and troubleshooting the steam, refrigeration, compressed air and support equipment
  • Repairing and troubleshooting electrical or instrumentation systems, AC frequency drives, the calibration of instruments, performing mechanical, preventive, and predictive maintenance
  • Performing welding and mechanical repairs
  • Completing preventive maintenance work orders
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers, team leads, and supervisors
  • Perform work in a safe manner by following safety procedures and policies, critical safety rules, and expected standard conduct
  • Perform cleaning duties as required
  • Implement and maintain 5S standards
  • This position is responsible and accountable to ensure product meets food safety, regulatory, and quality requirements by following the Food Safety Plan, Quality Plan, and company policies.
