About The Position

Transform technology into opportunity as a Jr. Information Systems Security Officer with GDIT. You will assist with preparing and maintaining security documentation, supporting system accreditation activities, and ensuring adherence to federal cybersecurity standards. You’ll receive on-the-job training and mentorship from experienced cybersecurity professionals, gain exposure to NIST RMF and DoW security standards, and build a foundation for a career in cybersecurity compliance and risk management. HOW A JUNIOR INFORMATION SYSTEMS SECURITY OFFICER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT Train to serve as an Information System Security Officer (ISSO) and support RMF Assessment and Authorization (A&A) processes for new and existing systems. Prepare and submit System Security Plans (SSPs), Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms), and risk assessment documentation; collaborate with Authorizing Officials (AOs) to achieve and maintain Authorization to Operate (ATO) status. Conduct compliance audits and reviews to verify adherence to NIST, DoW, and organizational security requirements. Provide support to ISSMs/ISSOs for implementing, and enforcing information systems security policies, standards, and methodologies. Manage and control changes to the system and assess the security impact of those changes. Aid the Information System Security Manager (ISSM) in maintaining the appropriate operational Information Assurance (IA) posture for a system, program, or enclave. Conduct regular reviews of DISA STIGs, analyze ACAS vulnerability scans, and provide remediation feedback to maintain compliance and support continuous monitoring under RMF. Develop and recommend policies and procedures to ensure information system reliability, availability, and security; perform security evaluations, audits, and reviews to identify vulnerabilities and mitigate risks. Perform duties as a member of the incident response team, conduct risk assessments and investigations, executing appropriate risk mitigations, and overseeing incident response activities. Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure timely submission of accreditation packages and maintain Authorization to Operate (ATO) status. The Jr. Information Systems Security Officer must have: Education: Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience/education in lieu of a degree Experience: 1+ years of related experience Technical skills: Windows Administration, Office proficiency Security clearance: Active Secret Clearance required to start and the ability to obtain a TS US citizenship required Certifications: Security+ CE or equivalent 8140 - IAT II/IAM I certification Self-starter, able to work independently. High level of attention to detail, ability to analyze and resolve problems, strong communication skills both written and verbal. Due to the nature of work, this is an onsite position five (5) days per week. Primary location will be Falls Church VA. The likely salary range for this position is $61,402 - $74,750. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range. Requirements
