The Jr. Fiber Technician position is a physical and technical role responsible for installation, upkeep, and operation of the ISU fiber optic and raceway systems. This position is responsible for installing, testing/troubleshooting, and removing Fiber optic, structured cabling systems and physical network equipment, and other related network responsibilities. Other duties include but are not limited to documentation of inventory, updating records systems, updating project documents (cut sheets, scheduled tasks, connection diagrams, etc.), and updating incident, service, and change management tickets. The ability to work a flexible off-hours schedule for planned and unplanned maintenance is required. A Jr. Fiber Technician is detail oriented, self-motivated, possesses excellent communication skills, and can troubleshoot while learning new skills, tools, and technologies. They also possess strong time management, organizational, communication, and decision-making skills with the ability to identify, analyze, and solve complex problems. A Jr. Fiber Technician is an entry-level position, demonstrating proficiency and knowledge of structured cabling systems, working under senior level supervision, and following mostly established business processes.
