About The Position

We are hiring for a Junior Electronics Hardware and Firmware Design Engineer at our Irvine, California location! FAAC International is a wholly owned subsidiary of FAAC Technologies, a large international industrial group headquartered in Bologna, Italy. Our goal is to improve our customers' quality of life and safety by automating and simplifying daily actions through innovative and functional devices for vehicular and pedestrian access applications within residential, commercial, and industrial markets. The Junior Electronics Hardware and Firmware Design Engineer supports the Engineering and Production teams. This role works closely with the Engineering team to design, develop, test, and evaluate prototypes. This role collaborates on exciting projects to support production aiming for continuous improvement in existing equipment, machinery, and manufacturing methods.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
  • 2+ years of experience in product support via hardware and firmware that has ended in production.
  • Experience with Autodesk Eagle
  • Experience with Microchip microcontrollers.
  • Knowledge of motor control techniques.
  • Mindset to investigate and resolve all product related issues, from conception to production, including aspects outside the electronic realm.
  • Attitude to work towards objectives and the ability to integrate within a work group
  • Out of the box mentally implementation.
  • Desire and ability to work in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Circuit design, firmware design, layout design, and software design.
  • Provide general support to the engineering department, including electronic assembly and troubleshooting
  • Support the group by owning and assisting on the activities related to the Product Development Process and other processes in the organization.
  • Improve and/or define tools and techniques to support fabrication, test, and verification of existing and new products.
  • Develop and execute unit tests and build verification test plans, and track and report test status.
  • Identify risks, suggest mitigation, track defects, develop resolutions, and report status.
  • Investigate field product issues, or issues during product development, be able to conduct necessary experiments with suitable techniques to get to the root cause of the issues at the shortest possible time.
  • Document the work undertaken not only with a goal to document but also with a goal in mind to educate the newcomers and the rest of the organization.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
