The Junior Controller supports the broader finance team in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and improving financial processes. This role is hands-on, detail-oriented, and well-suited for a high-growth environment where strong fundamentals, ownership, and continuous improvement are valued. The role offers meaningful exposure to all aspects of accounting and finance, close partnership with senior finance leadership, and a clear path for growth into a Controller or Finance Manager role.

Requirements

  • Must have 3-5 years of CPG experience with clear understanding of trade deduction management
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • 2–5 years of progressive accounting experience (public accounting or industry)
  • Strong understanding of GAAP
  • Experience with month-end close and account reconciliations
  • Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, lookups, basic modeling)
  • Experience with accounting/ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, QuickBooks, Oracle)
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Analytical mindset with problem-solving orientation
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Experience in a high-growth, startup, or CPG/manufacturing environment
  • Exposure to inventory accounting and cost of goods sold
  • Experience supporting audits and tax filings

  • CPA or CPA-track preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis
  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations (cash, AR, AP, inventory, accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets)
  • Support preparation of internal financial statements and management reporting
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and tracking actuals vs. plan
  • Help maintain and improve internal controls and accounting policies
  • Support audit and tax processes by preparing schedules and responding to auditor requests
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies
  • Partner with AP/AR to ensure accurate and timely processing
  • Support systems improvements and process automation within the accounting function
  • Perform ad hoc financial analysis and special projects as needed
