About The Position

Space Ground System Solutions (SGSS), a subsidiary of Parsons Corporation, is seeking a full-time, junior-level Configuration Management / Data Center Technician to join our team working at our customer site located in Welcome, MD. This role will support the Naval Research Laboratory in advancing the National Security Space mission and contribute to the support of Department of Defense programs from customer sites located in the Washington, D.C. area and Blossom Point, Maryland. This position will also provide hands-on support to Senior System Administrators and Engineers in maintaining data center operational readiness, including tools, personnel coordination, and end-user communications as needed.

Requirements

  • Must be a US citizen
  • Must meet eligibility requirements to obtain a TS/SCI clearance within 18 months of hire
  • B.S. in Computer Science/Engineering or other relevant field from an accredited university or equivalent combination of formal education
  • 1+ years of experience with racked serversnetwork devices andor desktop maintenance - installation, removal, and troubleshooting devices
  • 1+ years of experience with UNIX/Linux operating systems
  • 1+ year hands-on experience with one or more of the following hardware platforms (e.g. Dell, HP, Cisco, Palo Alto, Juniper)
  • Prior experience in both commercial and gov't datacenter facilities
  • Basic IPAM skills (tracking and configuring IP, subnet, gateway, VLAN)
  • Solid knowledge of cable labeling, routing, documentation
  • Active Security+ certification or ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire
  • Familiarity with datacenter power management, standards, connectors, budgeting, troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with datacenter cooling design patterns and load/demand budgeting construction/maintenance

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years previous experience working in a Data Center environment (racking & stacking gear, cable management [TIA 606 standards], hot & cold aisle containment, KVM configuration and operations, shipping/receiving/packing and RMA processes
  • Data Center Foundation Certification (DCFC)
  • 2+ years of experience working in a production, mission-critical 24x7x365 datacenter environment
  • Experience using CM tools (NetBox, Nautobot, or similar) and basic automation

Responsibilities

  • Support operations, maintaining and administering networks, including hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations.
  • Monitor the performance of systems and networks, ensuring adherence to DISA STIG guidelines
  • Maintain the operational baseline and establish network standards to guarantee optimal performance
  • Working in cramped and/or elevated locations during equipment installation
  • Bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching
  • Lifting and moving material up to 49 pounds each
  • Potentially standing and/or walking for up to 8+ hours a day
  • Ascending and descending ladders, stairs, and gangways safely and without limitation
  • Work in active data center environment
  • Work shifts longer than 8 hours to support 24/7 operations (covering both night and day shifts).
  • Supporting incident response and troubleshooting efforts;
  • Resolving problem tickets and fulfilling service requests;
  • Assisting with change management tracking and documentation;
  • Ensuring overall data center stability and operational efficiency
