About The Position

This position involves providing customer service, processing various requests in person, by telephone, fax, and mail, and handling fee collection as a cashier. The role requires extensive data entry into the computer database for Justice Courts and comprehensive management of civil and criminal court documents, including preparing, filing, processing, entering, issuing, recording, and setting dockets according to office policy and state statute. Maintaining confidentiality and security of documents, data, and courtroom proceedings is crucial. The Case Manager is expected to maintain proficiency in case management, train and evaluate subordinates, and participate in emergency management duties during local disasters as directed by county managers.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 2 years of job related experience within a legal system
  • Good computer and typing skills (minimum 35 WPM)
  • Excellent research, organizational, interpersonal and written skills
  • Must have ability to interact with the public, employees and elected officials

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Justice of the Peace Court preferred

Responsibilities

  • Service customers; reviews and processes requests in person, by telephone, fax and/or mail
  • Collects and receipts fees over the counter and by mail; acts as a cashier
  • Inputs data into the computer data base in order for the Justice Courts to have easy access to the information
  • Manages civil and criminal court documents by preparing, filing, processing, entering, issuing, recording and setting dockets according to cases filed
  • Prepares, files, assigns, and dockets new civil and criminal cases based on office policy and state statute to ensure accuracy of filings
  • Maintains confidentiality and security of documents, data and courtroom proceedings
  • Maintains knowledge, understanding and proficiency of case management to minimize errors
  • Trains, instructs and evaluates subordinates
  • Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers
