About The Position

The Journeyman Repair Maintenance Mechanic performs preventive maintenance inspections and service on machines to ensure effective performance.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in troubleshooting and servicing miscellaneous machinery and equipment.
  • Ability to use various measuring tools such as calipers, squares, protractor and measuring tapes.
  • Basic computer and math skills.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced high volume production environment under tight time constraints managing multiple priorities.
  • Must possess an understanding of production procedures.
  • Must adhere to health and safety regulations (consistent use of P.P.E).
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Must have excellent time management skills and work ethic.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, and production machines.
  • Follows diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, manufacturers instructions, and engineering specifications to troubleshoot malfunctions.
  • Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listens to problems using precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Removes defective parts by dismantling devices by using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools by examining form and texture of parts.
  • Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts, using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
  • Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques and monitoring compliance.
  • Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
  • Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level.
  • Anticipates needed equipment, parts, and supplies.
  • Places and expedites orders, verifies receipt of orders.
  • Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
  • Inspects products, evaluating finished pieces for compliance with quality standards and specifications.
  • Assembles items as instructed by supervisor/manager.
  • Follows all safety rules and quality standards including all company policies and procedures.
  • Performs job assignments in a safe and productive manner while maintaining high quality levels.
  • Adheres to standardized work practices in a continuous improvement environment.
  • Keeps work areas clean and organized while taking care of all equipment and facilities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
