The Journeyman Millwright/Industrial Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining a variety of machinery and equipment to ensure optimum performance.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) required
  • Associate's degree with an emphasis in Electrical/Mechanical skills preferred
  • 5 years work experience required
  • Completed schooling for a trade skill with a 3.0 or greater GPA or documented trade skill or 1 year work experience as a Journeyman Millwright/Industrial Mechanic
  • Completed 6240 hours of on-the-job training or documented 5 years or greater in related industrial experience
  • Completed 600 hours of classroom training including listed primary duties or 1 year work experience as a Millwright Journeyman
  • Strong team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Time management skills to organize and manage multiple deadlines
  • 40 hr. OSHA HAZWOPER and complete entry level training (LOTO, Line Breaking, Hotwork)
  • Forklift certification
  • Mobile crane operating experience
  • Mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot and repair complex equipment independently
  • Ability to work autonomously

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with additional certifications related to industrial mechanics
  • Advanced problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

  • Take accurate measurements using precision instruments (e.g., dial indicator, micrometer)
  • Read blueprints and work from prints and schematics
  • Operate cranes and hoists, including rigging
  • Perform aerial lift operations and other elevated work with fall protection
  • Repair and maintain sprinkler and fire protection systems
  • Perform hot work including welding (Oxy acetylene/Plasma Cutting)
  • Conduct pipefitting and insulation work
  • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Install and repair refractory materials
  • Erect steel and buildings
  • Fabricate components as needed
  • Maintain and repair conveyor systems (e.g., drag, screw, roller, elevators)
  • Conduct vibration analysis and fan balancing
  • Perform laser alignment and thermography
  • Assemble and inspect scaffolding
  • Repair, rebuild, and install pumps
  • Repair and/or replace functional parts of control instruments and mechanical devices
  • Notify supervisor of needed parts and machinery
  • Maintain appropriate records on completed work using the CMMS system
  • Complete other duties as assigned
