Requirements

Knowledge of and ability to process different cuts of meat
Previous experience as a meat wrapper/clerk, meat cutter
Ability to operate saws, grinders, and other meat processing machinery
Ability to use computer to check for communications, bulletins and access reports
Excellent customer service skills
Ability to understand and follow instructions, and ability to read, retain and comprehend guidelines, policies and procedures applicable to the position
Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work independently as well as within a large team
Self-motivated and driven to increase knowledge of Safeway products and share that knowledge with Safeway customers
Ability to provide regular and predictable attendance. employees may be scheduled to work early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays, and schedules may vary on a weekly basis)
Ability to comply with workplace conduct standards

Responsibilities

Delight our customers to meet or exceed customer experience goals.
Comply with established Weights and Measures, health and sanitation and safety policies and procedures.
Use equipment, including knives, power saws, grinders and other Meath processing machinery to cut, trim and prepare meat products, minimizing waste wherever possible.
Weigh, package and label meat and poultry items for display.
Promote sales with the department.
Remove fresh, frozen, and prepackaged meats from storage coolers and freezers and display in meat department display cases.
Inspect displayed product for expired dates and remove when necessary.
Take special orders from customers and provide special cuts.
Maintain cleanliness in area and conduct business in accordance with all federal, state, and local food/safety regulations.
Perform daily temp and tare checks in accordance with division guidelines.
Perform all job duties safely, accurately, with honesty and integrity.
Frequent lifting and carrying of items up to 75 lbs.
Frequent or continuous standing, walking, reaching, bending, stooping
