As a Journeyman Mason, you are expected to live these values in the field. What You’ll Do This role is hands-on, fast-paced, and essential to jobsite success. You’ll work closely with the Foreman and crew to ensure every pour meets Alpha’s standards for safety, quality, and productivity.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of masonry experience
  • Journeyman-level expertise in mixing, pouring, finishing, and concrete selection.
  • Strong working knowledge of hand tools and mechanical equipment.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 100 lbs and work on, under, and around equipment.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, stand, and work on your feet for extended periods.
  • A strong safety mindset and respect for trade best practices.
  • Reliability — you show up, follow through, and take pride in your reputation.

Nice To Haves

  • A valid driver’s license and clean driving record (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Consistently follow all safety regulations and company policies — no shortcuts.
  • Participate in daily crew meetings focused on safety, quality, and production goals.
  • Examine, set, and align concrete forms to ensure proper construction, depth, and pitch.
  • Pour, spread, level, smooth, and finish concrete using hand and power tools (shovels, floats, rakes, trowels, screeds, vibrators, brooms).
  • Form expansion joints and edges using jointers, straightedges, and edging tools.
  • Apply sealants, waterproofing, and hardening agents as required.
  • Perform advanced finishing techniques including stamping, staining, and coloring.
  • Coordinate with truck drivers and other masons during pours to maintain quality and flow.
  • Support and help guide less experienced crew members by example.
  • Assist with additional construction tasks as assigned by the Foreman.
