About The Position

The City of Ellensburg is accepting applications for the position of Journeyman Lineworker. The person in this position will work as a member of the line crew and will construct, maintain, inspect, and operate overhead and underground electrical distribution system, energized or de-energized, in accordance with applicable City policies, practices, and safety regulations. This is a full-time benefited position. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance. Retirement under the Washington State Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), VEBA, vacation, sick leave, holidays, bank days, and employee choice days. This position is represented by IBEW Local #77. This position will be on call on a rotation basis once the probation period is successfully completed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of certified three-year Apprentice Lineperson Program
  • One (1) year of experience as a Journeyman Lineworker recognized by the City of Ellensburg and IBEW 77; if the apprenticeship (at least the last year) is completed at the City of Ellensburg the one (1) year of experience may be waived at the discretion of management.
  • Valid Washington State Driver’s License including a Class A Commercial Driver’s License with air brakes; must maintain an insurable driving record.
  • Journeyman Lineman’s certification (per IBEW 77).
  • Must possess the following certifications or have the ability to obtain within a reasonable time period as approved by the supervisor: First Aid/CPR/AED certification, Flagging certification
  • Primary residence must be within 30 (thirty) minutes of corporate limits of the City of Ellensburg within 90 (ninety) days of hire date
  • Recent training in pole top rescue, bucket rescue, vault rescue, confined space, and trenching & excavation
  • Must be physically capable of moving about on construction work sites and under adverse field conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • Traffic signal, metering, and street light maintenance and operation experience
  • Bilingual English/Spanish
