About The Position

The Journeyman Lineman position at Utility Lines Construction Services, Inc. involves working in the Overhead Distribution Construction and Maintenance sector. Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • 4+ years of trade experience required
  • Familiar with building two and three transformer bank poles
  • Able to work with hands above head for extended periods of time
  • Meet and maintain weight restrictions for bucket trucks as identified by truck manufacturers
  • Safely enter and exit the aerial device and rear-end of the bucket and derrick trucks
  • Effectively cover up to safely complete work on energized lines and equipment
  • Work efficiently and effectively from heights
  • Follow directions, work safely & productively
  • Work long hours and overtime during holidays, emergencies, weekends, etc.
  • Subject to call-out work
  • Climb wooden poles

Nice To Haves

  • Valid commercial driver's license preferred within 90 days of employment
  • DOT medical card required within 90 days of employment

Responsibilities

  • Works from aerial device installing and repairing overhead distribution lines and equipment
  • Excavates to assist in the installation of structures or cables as required by contract specification
  • Makes primary connections and terminations
  • Assists with assembling material on the ground to be installed by lineperson and assists with the installation
  • Makes secondary connections at transformers
  • Assists with pulling in new wire and sagging
  • Assists with replacing and setting new poles
  • Clears all work areas to maintain safe job site conditions
  • Communicates with public and private property owners regarding work to be performed
  • Participates in company training of all regional safety guidelines
  • Operates various tools for the work, including manual digging devices, wrenches, hammers, drills, and jackhammers
  • Works around excessive noise from machines and other equipment with proper hearing protection
  • Works around hazardous and near energized parts or equipment
  • Performs all other duties as required or requested by Supervisors
