Centura College is seeking experienced Journeyman Lineworkers to train the next generation in Norfolk, VA. This role offers a stable schedule, a climate-controlled environment, strong benefits, and the chance to shape new lineworkers for the power industry. A $2,500 sign-on bonus is offered, along with a $5,000 relocation bonus for out-of-area hires moving to Norfolk. The Electrical Lineworker program prepares students for entry-level roles in the utility industry through safety training, technical instruction, and hands-on fieldwork. Students learn essential skills in tool use, ladder and scaffold safety, electrical fundamentals, grounding, circuit analysis, and the proper use of PPE. Training includes climbing and working on utility poles, inspecting climbing gear, performing pole-top rescues, and completing CPR, First Aid, and Bloodborne Pathogen certification. Students also gain experience with aerial framing, pole setting, rigging, trenching, and operating equipment such as bucket trucks and digger derricks. Graduates leave with the practical skills and confidence needed to safely support electrical distribution of construction and maintenance and to advance into further technical training or apprenticeships.
