About The Position

Our Lewiston, ID location is seeking a Weekend Swing Journeyman Electrician to add to our team. Pay starts at $39.48/hr with incremental raises to $44.24/hr after 12 months. The Weekend Swing Journeyman Electrician supports our manufacturing facility through planning, layout, repairing and maintaining electrical systems to supply power to equipment and areas of the plant, according to blueprints, drawings, sketches and state and local codes, in a safe and efficient manner. Requirements

  • Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.
  • Must be able to read, write, and perform advanced math calculations.
  • Must have good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must have basic knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Must be able to learn to drive a forklift safely within 30 days.
  • Must have a good safety record.
  • Must have good housekeeping and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently without continual supervision.
  • Must hold Journey level Electricians papers and carry state and local licenses.

Responsibilities

  • Receives job assignments according to work orders, daily work schedule, preventative maintenance schedule, or special assignment from Supervisor or Technical Coordinator.
  • Installs and repairs electrical systems, apparatus and electrical components of production machinery and equipment following electrical code, manuals, schematics diagrams, blueprints and other specifications.
  • Uses hand and power tools as well as electrical test equipment.
  • Installs power supply wiring and conduit for newly or redesigned machines and equipment.
  • Follows electrical code and blueprints.
  • Uses hand and power tools as well as electrical test equipment.
  • Connects power supply wires to machines and equipment and connects cables and wires between machines and equipment.
  • Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables.
  • Tests malfunctioning machinery, using test equipment, and communicates results to Supervisor.
  • Replaces faulty electrical components such as relays, switches, and motors, and positions sensing devices.
  • Replaces electric motor brushes and bearings.
  • Rewire components as necessary.
  • Operates electrical equipment to verify electrical hookups are correct.
  • Plans lay out of wiring and installs wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus.
  • Designs switch gear circuits.
  • Diagnoses, and replaces faulty mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic components of machines and equipment.
  • Ability to use laptop to diagnose and repair existing PLC equipment as well as make changes as needed
  • Tests electrical equipment for efficiency and safety.
  • Inspects circuits and wiring, for specified grounding and shielding, according to code and regulations.
  • Maintains stock of supplies, and prepare requisitions with additional supplies and/or equipment for supervisor's signature.
  • Maintains working relationship with local suppliers.
  • Works with Supervisor, when conferring with outside contractors and agents concerning electrical needs.
  • Coordinates projects with maintenance personnel and department personnel, ensuring all involved are informed, and all aspects of the project are covered.
  • Monitors and records time, and materials on work orders.
  • Turns in work order and receipts to Supervisor.
  • Assists maintenance personnel in moving equipment, welding, carpentry work, fabrication, mechanical work, etc. as assigned or as workload permits.
  • Keeps work area cleaned and organized.
  • Responds to emergency calls after the regularly scheduled shift ends or on weekends, when available.
  • Trains new employees to the department/area as assigned.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned.
