About The Position

This position is responsible for focusing on operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing facility equipment across all systems, including electrical, refrigeration, heat exchanger, and HVAC. The role involves assisting with maintenance, monitoring, and performing preventive maintenance on various equipment. It requires the ability to analyze system operations, determine the cause of problems, and take corrective action. Responsibilities also include assisting with the installation and repair of plumbing, piping, wiring, motors, pumps, air compressors, and heat exchangers. The Journeyman Electrician will install, repair, and maintain electrical controls, switching, and motor controls, and monitor the operation of refrigeration, cooling, heating, and hot water equipment. The role also involves troubleshooting and repairing overhead doors, assisting with non-electrical maintenance work orders, complying with hazardous materials policies, and maintaining a clean and safe workplace.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 2 years of trades schooling in electrical system design, refrigeration and HVAC
  • Working knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel
  • Journeyman License required
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Must be flexible and willing to work varying shifts from time to time

Responsibilities

  • Focus on operating, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing facility equipment on all systems
  • Assist with maintenance, monitoring, and performance of preventive maintenance on all equipment including, but not limited to, electrical, refrigeration, heat exchanger, HVAC, emergency backup systems and hot water systems, at the direction of supervisor
  • Analyze the operation of various systems, determine the cause of any problems/malfunctions and take corrective action as required
  • Assist with the installation and repair plumbing/piping/tubing
  • Wire single and three phase motors (single & two speed)
  • Run conduit
  • Pull wiring to machinery, motors, operating parts, etc.
  • Install and rebuild pumps and motors
  • Install and rebuild air compressors
  • Install and rebuild heat exchangers
  • Replace bearings in all types of motors
  • Replace seals on pumps
  • Install and repair piping, valves, filters, hot water systems and associated controls
  • Assist other mechanics and operators with major repairs and maintenance of building and equipment
  • Install, repair, and maintain electrical controls, switching and motor controls
  • Monitor operation, repair, and maintain refrigeration, water cooling and air conditioning equipment; boilers, heating, ventilating and hot water equipment; pumps, valves, piping and filters; other mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Record readings as necessary to assure proper operation of equipment
  • Responsible for reporting any problems/malfunctions
  • Troubleshoot and repair overhead doors
  • Assist with maintenance work orders of non-electrical nature
  • Comply with departmental policy for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials
  • Maintain a clean and safe workplace
