POSITION OVERVIEW The Journeyman Electrician is responsible for performing electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and installation work across a variety of commercial facilities. This role also includes leading work on job sites, coordinating with team members and other trades, and ensuring all work is completed safely and efficiently. This position combines hands-on electrical work with leadership responsibilities, including guiding apprentices and supporting daily field operations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Journeyman Electrician License required
  • 4–6+ years of electrical experience (commercial preferred)
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems and construction environments
  • Knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC)
  • OSHA safety knowledge, including Lockout/Tagout procedures
  • Electrical Theory: Understanding voltage, current, resistance, and circuitry
  • Blueprint Reading: Interpreting technical diagrams and floor plans
  • Code Compliance: Working knowledge of NEC requirements
  • Specialized Tooling: Proficiency with benders, multi-meters, and power tools
  • Safety Protocols: Knowledge of OSHA/NFPA standards and safe work practices
  • Ability to coordinate with other trades (plumbing, HVAC, carpentry)
  • Experience ordering and managing materials for job sites
  • Ability to accurately track and report billable hours
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Effective communication (verbal and written)
  • Leadership ability and experience working with a team
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical maintenance, repairs, and installations on commercial systems
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues and implement effective solutions
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
  • Ensure all work complies with NEC codes and safety standards
  • Coordinate with supervisors, project managers, and other trades
  • Provide guidance and oversight to apprentices and junior electricians
  • Maintain job site safety, organization, and quality standards
  • Track time, materials, and job progress accurately
  • Assist with material ordering and job site coordination
