About The Position

The Journeyman Electrician at Crothall Healthcare is responsible for the operation, repair, installation, maintenance, replacement, and testing of electrical circuits, equipment, and appliances to ensure a reliable supply of electrical power for hospital facilities. This role requires expertise in both medium and low voltage power distribution systems, as well as the ability to troubleshoot and repair various electrical systems and equipment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required.
  • Two years of trade school and/or on-the-job related experience.
  • Two years' experience as an Electrician or Technician in a similar institution.
  • Minimum one year of medium voltage experience.
  • Ability to move objects weighing up to sixty pounds.
  • Ability to use tools as required and visual acuity to differentiate color-coded wires.

Nice To Haves

  • NETA or NICET qualification (Level 2 and higher) preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects, monitors, and operates Medium Voltage (13.8kV-13.2kV) and Low Voltage Power Distribution systems (120/480VAC).
  • Switches, isolates, and grounds electrical systems as needed and restores power during localized outages.
  • Supports emergency generator operations for emergency power requirements and utility outages.
  • Repairs, maintains, and installs electrical systems and equipment including MV switches, power transformers, circuit breakers, motors, and switchgear.
  • Maintains records of installations, alterations, and repairs, updating facility drawings as necessary.
  • Assists in developing and installing emergency re-powering circuits for critical patient care power circuits.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, one-line diagrams, and control schematics.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs AC and DC circuits and control power systems.
  • Uses electrical diagnostic tools such as ammeters, voltmeters, and insulation testers.
  • Performs maintenance testing and inspections on normal, emergency, critical, and life safety circuits.
