About The Position

The Journeyman Mechanic - Diesel (M-F, 2:00pm-12:30am, Saturdays as needed) has
the responsibility to troubleshoot major and minor mechanical problems, as well
as have the ability to repair and adjust all necessary mechanical components.
Work assignments will be received in the form of oral or written work orders,
but the employee is expected to determine the nature and extent of needed
repairs.

The Journeyman Mechanic is responsible for independently diagnosing, repairing,
and maintaining heavy vehicles and industrial equipment to ensure safe and
reliable operation. This role interprets work orders, identifies mechanical
issues, performs necessary repairs or adjustments, and upholds all safety and
compliance standards. This mechanic role works with moderate supervision while
ensuring consistent, high-quality maintenance and operational readiness of
equipment.

Requirements

• Ability to perform physical requirements of the job
• Repetitive lifting, pushing, pulling and climbing
• Ability to work in all weather conditions
• Needs excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills
• Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
• Experience with routine maintenance operations is required
• Must be 21 years of age, or older

Nice To Haves

• ASE certifications are a plus
• Waste industry experience, a plus
• Completion of college or vocational or technical training, a plus
• A valid CDL driver license is a plus

Responsibilities

• Maintains, repairs and overhauls heavy vehicles and industrial equipment
• Interprets work orders and technical manuals
• Keeps equipment cleaned, lubricated and maintained
• Diagnoses faults or malfunctions
• Adjusts equipment and repairs or replaces defective parts, components or systems
• Obey all workplace health and safety and code of conduct workplace rules
• Undertake the training and assessment required under the training plan
