About The Position

Are you a skilled and versatile tradesperson with expertise in mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and carpentry systems? UPMC Chautauqua in Jamestown, NY, is looking for a Journeyman Multi-Craft to join our team and help ensure the safety, functionality, and efficiency of our facility. The position primarily involves first shift work with the potential for second and third shift work as well, including participation in weekend rotation for shift coverage. Candidates will be placed in the appropriate level of the career ladder based on years of experience.

Requirements

• Completion of an Associates Degree, a Two-year Mechanical or related Trade School program or an Apprenticeship in a Trade.
• 4 years of general maintenance work experience working in a healthcare or commercial environment is required.
• Military experience considered.
• OR Completion of a high school diploma/GED and a Total of 8 years of general maintenance work experience working in a healthcare or commercial environment is required.
• Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance work and tasks as directed with minimal supervision.
• Inspect electrical distribution systems, locate short circuits, loose connectors, worn motor brushes, etc.; inspect fire alarm system and provide first response to all fire alarms.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area, equipment rooms and shop areas.
• Maintain all written logs pertaining to shift responsibilities, i.e., med gas, equipment room rounds, etc.
• Maintain water chemistry and testing procedures on equipment and building systems.
• Operate and maintain a variety of building's direct digital control (DDC) systems.
• Order materials as needed.
• Perform all work following infection control procedures.
• Perform minor carpentry and painting work.
• Record work orders and submit hours to supervisor on a daily basis.
• Perform minor repairs and maintaining of plumbing fixtures, piping systems, plumbing leaks (soldering), defective pipes and clogged drains.
• Safely and efficiently operate and maintain all mechanical systems, i.e., steam pressure heating systems, water systems, ventilation systems, refrigeration equipment, etc.; round mechanical equipment and machine rooms in all buildings as assigned.
• Perform required maintenance, repair and inspection of beds.
• Ability to perform snow removal activities and work in adverse weather conditions.
