Under direction, this position directs, coordinates, and performs the most complicated construction and maintenance work on overhead and underground systems, including gas lines, fiber optics, telephone, and CATV systems. The role requires operating all equipment utilized in utility construction and maintenance, which may include a mobile crane, and involves gloving primary voltage up to 25,000 volts and using hot sticks up to 34.5 kv. Promotion to this classification occurs after forty-eight (48) months as a Line Mechanic, contingent on demonstrated ability, fitness, and other qualifications, including the completion of 1800 hours of energized primary work (single phase & three phases) and successful completion of a 25kV gloving program.
