About The Position

The Journey Electrician position at the Lansing Board of Water & Light (BWL) involves the installation and maintenance of electrical components related to power distribution and substations across various facilities. Requirements

• Journeyworker certification as an electrician.
• Experience working in commercial and/or industrial installations.
• Experience on three-phase 480-volt distribution systems and motor connections.
• Experience with primary cable terminations and high-voltage switchgear maintenance.
• Must be respirator certified.
• Must be CPR/First Aid qualified.
• Familiarity with LOTO (Lock - Out - Tag - Out) and clearance procedures.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with DC battery services.

Responsibilities

• Install and maintain breakers, transformers, switches, and tap changers on 138KV and potentially energized voltages of 13.2KV and 480-V.
• Install and repair electric motors and controls.
• Install electric conduit and cable.
• Install and maintain DC battery systems.
• Work on computer equipment installations.
• Read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
• Follow BWL Safety Manual and wear required personal protective equipment.
• Attend training for safety awareness or skills improvement as required.
• Respond to code calls or other emergencies within the production facility.
• Perform other duties as required.
