About The Position

KBR’s National Security Solutions team provides high-end engineering and advanced technology solutions to our customers in the intelligence and national security communities. In this position, your work will have a profound impact on the country’s most critical role – protecting our national security. KBR is seeking a Joint Operational Logistics Subject Matter Expert (SME) with deep knowledge of U.S. military logistics and operational planning to apply experiences in a model and simulation (M&S) environment in support of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). The ideal candidate will serve as the operational logistics authority within an interdisciplinary team supporting DARPA and other Defense M&S efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and at least 12 years of relevant experience in U.S. military operations, logistics, sustainment, or force deployment.
  • Proficiency in operations research methods, data analytics, and computational modeling techniques.
  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. joint military planning processes (JOPES, MDMP, joint logistics doctrine).
  • Proven ability to bridge operational requirements with technical modeling solutions.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree or Ph.D. in Operations Research, Systems Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Logistics, or related technical field, and at least 14 years of relevant experience.
  • U.S. military Joint Qualified Officer designation.
  • Experience supporting Joint Staff, OSD, or Combatant Command campaign analyses.
  • Familiarity with wargaming design, campaign modeling, force structure assessments, or digital engineering environments.
  • Proficiency in programming/scripting languages (Python, R, MATLAB, or similar) for data processing and model enhancement.
  • Experience with distributed simulation environments and interoperability standards (HLA, DIS, FMI).

Responsibilities

  • Apply expertise in planning, managing, and executing the movement and sustainment of military forces through the supply and maintenance of personnel, materiel, equipment, and services.
  • Deconstruct missions and assist in the development of operationally relevant design of experiments in the M&S environment.
  • Support analysis of logistic flows in a contested environment.
  • Develop, configure, and execute mission-level simulations to analyze force employment, sustainment, and readiness across contested environments.
  • Translate operational logistics requirements, doctrine, and tactics into computational models, simulation inputs, and scenario constructs.
  • Support and/or conduct quantitative analysis of supply chain resilience, force mobility, deployment timelines, and sustainment operations.
  • Support and/or perform sensitivity analyses, trade-off studies, and risk assessments using simulation outputs.
  • Provide technical review and validation of M&S results against doctrine, historical data, and/or real-world operations.
  • Author and deliver technical reports, white papers, and decision briefs for senior military and civilian leaders.
  • Collaborate with DoD labs, FFRDCs, and industry partners on advancing next-generation M&S tools for logistics and operations.
  • Lead small teams or tasks in support of the broader overall effort.
