About The Position

The Departments of Neuroscience and Computer Science at The University of Texas at Austin invite applications for a tenure-track or tenured faculty position in the interface between neuroscience, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML) and computer science. We are particularly interested in outstanding candidates with innovative research programs that attempt to bridge the gap between biological and artificial intelligence, and/or use statistical ML algorithms and modern AI to solve fundamental problems in basic neuroscience and/or neuroscience-related healthcare. Other areas of interest include, but are not limited to, the intersection of neuroscience with advanced computational approaches, including brain-computer interfaces, and individualized interventions and precision medicine in psychiatry and neurology. This position comprises a highly competitive salary and start-up funds. We expect new faculty to develop and maintain an ambitious research program within a vibrant and collegial academic environment. The successful candidate will have a joint appointment in both departments and will have an opportunity to participate in the integrated Neuroscience + Computer Science undergraduate major. The two departments value candidates who have demonstrated a commitment to student and trainee mentorship. The position will include full access to the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC) supercomputers, and the option to join various multi-disciplinary neuroscience and advanced computing centers on campus, including the Center for Theoretical and Computational Neuroscience (CTCN), the Machine Learning Laboratory (MLL), the Center for Generative AI (CenGen), TACC, and the Oden Institute for Computational Engineering and Science.
