About The Position

The position is for a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) who will work day shifts. The role involves recognizing and assessing urgent/emergency needs of patients, facilitating interdisciplinary communication, and managing electronic medical records. The LPN will assist with various procedures and ensure proper documentation of patient interactions. The position also includes responsibilities for maintaining a professional appearance in patient exam and procedure rooms and participating in performance improvement projects.

Requirements

• Current LPN license issued by the State of Iowa.
• Clinic/physician pediatrics office experience preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider certification or obtained within three months of hire.
• Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within three months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Recognize and assess urgent/emergency needs of patients and initiate appropriate emergency procedures.
• Demonstrate knowledge of various payor regulations and function within those guidelines.
• Facilitate interdisciplinary communication and utilize other health care team members in patient assessment.
• Assess learning needs of patients and provide accurate information to patients and families.
• Follow clinic procedures for the organization and management of electronic medical records.
• Evaluate patient and family understanding of treatment plans and instructions.
• Assist with procedures, exams, and operation of diagnostic equipment as assigned.
• Maintain appropriate aseptic technique for preparation, procedures, and medications.
• Document all patient interactions accurately in electronic medical records.
• Report results and pertinent information to patients and health care team members.
• Function according to limitations of license or certification.
• Perform basic nursing functions under the direction of a provider.
• Maintain professional appearance of patient exam and procedure rooms.
