About The Position

As a Maintenance Technician with John Deere in Kernersville, NC, you will perform maintenance related tasks in a production environment focused on safety, quality, and teamwork. Job details are dependent on duties assigned but in general consist of managing configuration and versions of programmable devices, hardware, and systems such as Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's). You will perform corrective and preventative maintenance repairs and work on a wide variety of electrical, mechanical, electronic, and electromechanical production equipment and building systems. Additionally, you will diagnose and resolve breakdowns of hydraulic, pneumatic, and high voltage electrical systems without assistance, perform maintenance, repair, and calibration on equipment such as control systems of numerically controlled machines (CNC), troubleshoot and maintain electrostatic paint systems and overhead cranes, and follow proper chemical handling procedures. Effective communication with operators and cross-functional personnel is essential, along with assisting and supporting team members, cleaning work areas, and completing all required safety program objectives and training.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have a High School Diploma or G.E.D. or National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) or at least 3 years of manufacturing work experience.
  • Must have at least 3 years of production maintenance work experience.
  • Working knowledge and experience with mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Experience with typical mechanical and electrical hand tools.
  • Working knowledge and ability to service various automation tools such as PLCs, CNC controllers, AC/DC motor control circuits, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
  • Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office software.
  • Ability to perform manual tasks related to job duties for the duration of the work shift.
  • Ability and willingness to work any 12-hour shift and potential overtime.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge and experience of electrical systems rated 460 volts 3 phase thru 110 volts single phase.
  • Control electrical circuits 120 volts thru 12 volts.

Responsibilities

  • Clean work area and perform miscellaneous duties.
  • Complete all required safety program objectives and training.
