About The Position

The Jobs Program Representative is assigned to the URM Learning Center and helps program participants with career assessments, skills development, job placement, and workforce readiness. Ensures the smooth progression of apprenticeship participation, facilitates document recovery, resource sharing, enrollment, fulfillment, and procuring employment programs and partnerships; manages schedules, materials, and logistics by providing communication and technical assistance between participants and URM’s Housekeeping, Kitchen, and Life Transformation departments. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of directly related experience in recruiting and/or job placement.
  • Experience in coaching, mentoring, and training individuals.
  • Strong knowledge of the local employment market, including job search techniques and interview skills.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and meet eligibility requirements to be added to URM’s auto insurance policy.
  • Strong communication skills across written, verbal, online, and virtual platforms.
  • Proficiency in office productivity software such as Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace.
  • Ability to motivate and monitor participant engagement and performance in learning and job readiness activities.
  • Effective at collaborating proactively and persuasively within and across teams.
  • Skilled at building rapport and working effectively with individuals at all organizational levels and across diverse cultures.
  • Capable of working both independently and as part of a team, including leading projects, when required.
  • Adaptable to changes in the organizational structure and external environment.
  • Familiarity with City, State, and Federal employment laws, regulations, and Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) requirements.
  • Working knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferred.
  • Experience working in a social services organization, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a working understanding of current career and job readiness assessment tools.
  • Provide job coaching and career-readiness services and education by appointment and drop-in.
  • Interface with Mission staff and program participants to assess education, experience and abilities.
  • Assess suitability for referral to apprenticeship and workforce programs.
  • Provide counseling devoted to career assessment, planning, preparation for re-entry into the work environment, job search training, and transitioning to employment.
  • Manage needs assessment and develop learning plans for groups and individuals.
  • Complete individualized progress notes following each service provided to measure movement toward mastery of the stated goals and objectives in their development plan.
  • Coordinate and deliver training or workshops to help with marketable skills.
  • Be familiar with tents of the Housekeeping and Kitchen Training Programs.
  • Provide technical assistance to Housekeeping, Kitchen, and Life Transformation teams regarding attendance, progress, challenges, and needed interventions.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with industries suitable for program participants.
  • Participate in contract review, develop forms and checklists, and monitor onsite program operators.
  • Stay current on workforce development regulations, apprenticeship guidelines and funding requirements
  • Build relationships with local employers and service providers to increase job program opportunities.
  • Monitor apprenticeship placement progress and performance in various programs and departments.
  • Attend relevant meetings and events, preparing notes and feedback on job progress and attendance.
  • Work closely with case managers and chaplains to help guests’ success with reemployment.
  • Oversee daily operations during Learning Center open hours, classes, and scheduled events.
  • Provide guests progress quarterly reports on the program
  • Provide transportation as needed. (driving, bus routes, or coordinating personal vehicle use)
  • Maintain respectful, informative communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Other duties as assigned.
