About The Position

For the RAMS Hire-Ability Vocational Services Program Hire-Ability, an award-winning vocational services program of RAMS, is seeking a Job Developer / Coach. Hire-Ability provides high-quality, culturally competent vocational rehabilitation, training, and support services to adults with behavioral health conditions and/or mental health disabilities. Program services include vocational assessment, job readiness training, on-the-job training, job development, placement and retention, and ongoing job coaching. Wage Range: $32.45-$38.74 (depending on experience and qualifications) Status: Part-Time (20 hours/week), non-exempt This is a part-time position; caseload size and job development expectations are prorated accordingly. Requirements

  • Possesses a Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, business, marketing communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience in a community behavioral health or social services setting
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (bilingual Chinese highly preferred)
  • Demonstrates experience providing job development services, or equivalent experience including sales, marketing or outreach.
  • Demonstrates the ability to travel locally within San Francisco, including multiple locations in a single day
  • Demonstrates the ability to perform light physical activity while engaging in employer outreach and community-based work

  • Demonstrates at least one year of experience providing direct services to behavioral health participants from minority or underserved communities
  • Exhibits a friendly, customer-focused communication style
  • Engages in employer and customer relationship development, including outbound calls, outreach campaigns, performance review, participant meetings, employer pitches, research, and internal strategy development
  • Demonstrates familiarity with San Francisco’s community behavioral health systems of care, including service delivery models and levels of care
  • Demonstrates familiarity with San Francisco community resources, including mental health, substance use, vocational, housing, and related services
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to RAMS’ mission of providing community-based, culturally competent, and participant-guided services
  • Commits to ongoing professional development through trainings, continuing education, case conferences, and review of best practices
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a diverse, multidisciplinary team

Responsibilities

  • Assists participants with mental health conditions in obtaining and maintaining competitive employment
  • Creates job opportunities for the entire team through rigorous efforts of establishing relationships with our community's employers
  • Provides job coaching follow-along services for the team to assist the participants in maintaining employment
  • Utilizes sales skills to market participants’ abilities and Hire-Ability’s services to supportive and well-fitting employers
  • Engages in essential activities to drive employer relationship growth, including but not limited to: outbound calls, participant meetings, research, attending community events (i.e. career fairs), internal strategy building and execution.
  • Meets regularly with treatment team members to coordinate and integrate vocational services into mental health treatment
  • Assesses participants’ vocational functioning in an on-going basis utilizing background information and work experiences
  • Maintains timely, accurate, and compliant documentation in Salesforce and participant records in accordance with program, funder, and regulatory requirements.
  • Acts as a liaison between employer and participant to ensure success on the job
  • Engages participants and establish trusting, collaborative relationships directed toward the goal of competitive employment in integrated job settings
  • Provides individualized job preparation in individual meetings
  • Provides group workshops and trainings using classroom/workshop format, e.g. “Job Club” and “Job Lab”
  • Draws up the individual vocational treatment plan with a multidisciplinary team
  • Works collaboratively with all the related Hire-Ability staff around meeting the program's contract objectives
  • Provides education and support to the employer(s) as agreed upon by the participant that may include negotiating job accommodations and follow-along contact with the employer(s)
  • Maintains on-going communication on the status with Department of Rehabilitation Counselors and relevant stakeholders
  • Deliver services in alignment with the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model, including rapid job search, integration with treatment teams, participant choice, and competitive employment outcomes
  • Other duties as assigned
