About The Position

Location: Cuyahoga County Status: Part Time, Hourly FLSA Status: Nonexempt Vocational Guidance Services (VGS) changes lives and strengthens our communities through services that educate, empower, and provide the opportunity to earn a paycheck! VGS is a highly acclaimed, successful, private, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) vocational rehabilitation agency with over 130 years of dedicated experience serving persons with disabilities or other barriers to employment. We are currently seeking to hire a Job Coach to coordinate, implement, and support Community Based Work Adjustment Programs and Job Site Work Experience Programs in diverse vocational settings for all counties served in the Cleveland region. The Direct Support Professional will be responsible for performing the following duties.

Requirements

• Associates degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must have reliable transportation to get to a variety of locations.

Responsibilities

• Train individuals with disabilities on various job tasks in a variety of job settings such as retail, custodial, clerical, etc.
• Assist individuals in learning job duties of their newly acquired job or temporary community based work adjustment (CBWA) assignment.
• Provide travel training as needed for individuals that need to learn how to take public transportation to get to their new place of employment.
• Provide a variety of Job Coaching services to individuals with disabilities including developing appropriate job-keeping behaviors, task analysis, and development of skills in completing specific tasks.
• Act as an advocate for the individual at the job site and/or work adjustment site.
• Provide referral information to individuals served for necessary and appropriate community services to enhance their vocational success.
• Prepare and submit thorough and insightful daily case notes that chart an individual's progress, challenges, and receptivity to direction and/or instruction provided.
• Provide services beyond normal agency hours of 8:00am - 4:30pm as required if available.
• Fill in as a substitute at agency facilities and employer partner sites as needed.
