About The Position

This position at Devereux's Brandywine School in West Chester, PA, is for a Job Coach who will assist adolescents and young adults with emotional support and behavioral health diagnoses in transitioning from school-based programming to community and post-education life/vocational skills. The role involves developing activities, supervising, training, and coaching students at school and community job sites to achieve employment independence. The Brandywine School provides education curriculum to children functioning at all grade levels, utilizing a multi-sensory educational strategy with traditional instruction, hands-on learning, and technology. A main focus of the school program is the transition from school to career and all necessary interrelated skills. Requirements

  • High school diploma

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors degree in education, psychology, social work, or related field
  • Two years experience working with adolescents and young adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and/or behavior disorders in a transition and employment setting

Responsibilities

  • Develop activities to support the transition of students from childhood to adulthood
  • Directly supervise, train, and coach students within the school and community job sites
  • Work with middle school and high school aged students to achieve a level of accomplishment and productivity that allows for greater employment independence
  • Work with a team to assess skills and level of functioning/participation and document progress and involvement of students
  • Provide information and input based on level of participation, functioning and progress to goals
