About The Position

The position involves managing a caseload of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) who are seeking employment opportunities. The role includes performing pre-placement tasks, intensive job coaching, and long-term follow-along tasks for assigned individuals. Responsibilities also include obtaining referrals, completing intakes, and enrolling new clients, as well as assessing participants' skills, strengths, interests, and support needs to determine suitable job opportunities. The job requires working one-on-one or in small groups with participants to develop job-seeking and vocational skills, assisting them in obtaining and maintaining employment, and developing career plans consistent with their Individual Service Plans (ISP). Additionally, the role involves supporting job development through outreach to local businesses, conducting job searches, and providing ongoing support to maintain successful employment.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or higher in a related field from an accredited college or university; or High School Diploma/GED and three (3) years of related experience.
  • Familiarity with the demands and expectations of business and industry.
  • Must be at least 20 years of age.
  • New Jersey State drug test screening is mandatory prior to employment.
  • Ability to travel regularly across Northern NJ to support participants.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Enthusiastic and friendly demeanor.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent time-management skills.
  • Proficient in Outlook, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or related field.
  • Prior experience providing group/individual counseling and/or vocational services to individuals with I/DD.
  • Valid NJ State Driver's License highly preferred for assignments in areas with limited public transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Assists participants with resume building, interview skills, and job applications.
  • Provides vocational training and develops/reviews soft skills and professional behaviors.
  • Supports job development through outreach to local businesses.
  • Conducts job searches focused on competitive employment.
  • Travels across assigned regions to visit employed individuals and provide on-site job coaching.
  • Provides ongoing support to maintain successful employment.
  • Reviews and completes all required paperwork and documentation.
  • Remains up to date with mandatory and other trainings.
  • Maintains communication with the team on individual progress and needs.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
