About The Position

The Job Coach position at YAI involves managing a caseload of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) who are seeking employment opportunities. The role includes performing pre-placement tasks, intensive job coaching, and long-term follow-along tasks for assigned individuals. Responsibilities include obtaining referrals, completing intakes, and enrolling new clients, as well as assessing participants' skills, strengths, interests, and support needs to determine suitable job opportunities. The Job Coach works closely with participants to develop job-seeking and vocational skills, assists in obtaining and maintaining employment, and provides ongoing support to ensure successful employment outcomes. Additionally, the role includes leading pre-vocational group sessions and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or related field.
  • Familiarity with the demands and expectations of business and industry.
  • Must be at least 20 years of age.
  • New Jersey State drug test screening is mandatory prior to employment.
  • Must hold a valid Driver's License with no more than 5 points.
  • Ability to travel regularly across Northern NJ.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent time management and written communication skills.
  • Able to work independently.
  • Enthusiastic and friendly.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Outlook, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or related field.
  • Prior experience providing group/individual counseling and/or vocational services to individuals with I/DD.

Responsibilities

  • Manages a caseload of individuals with I/DD seeking employment opportunities.
  • Performs pre-placement, intensive job coaching, and long-term follow-along tasks.
  • Obtains referrals, completes intakes, and enrolls new clients.
  • Completes assessments of participant's skills, strengths, interests, and support needs.
  • Works one-on-one and/or in small group settings to develop job-seeking and vocational skills.
  • Develops career plans with participants consistent with their Individual Service Plans (ISP).
  • Assists participants with resume building, interview skills, and job applications.
  • Provides vocational training and develops soft skills necessary for employability.
  • Supports job development by conducting outreach to local businesses.
  • Conducts job searches focused on competitive employment consistent with individual goals.
  • Travels across assigned regions to visit employed individuals and provide on-site job coaching.
  • Provides ongoing support to maintain successful employment.
  • Reviews and completes all required paperwork and documentation.
  • Remains up to date with mandatory and other trainings.
  • Maintains communication with the team on individual progress and needs.
